So we've seen points scored by the ACTU campaign against Howard and Costello's class warfare blueprint. Barnaby breaking the coalition lockstep. Low community support for handing the rest of the Telstra family jewels to wealthy investors. A coalition of country and student interests who agree on keeping student control of student amenities.
So how, how, how is Beazley slipping so far under the radar and posting his worst figures ever?

Big fella can't take a trick. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing at this stage, but if these sorts of figures continue right up until the next election, we would be naive to think that the federal ALP won't start stabbing itself violently in the guts again.
The media thinks Barnaby is much more interesting right now.
Barnaby IS more interesting right now. As with the Petro Georgiou affair, you find yourself wondering why individuals on the right are getting across a punchier message about left wing issues than, er, who you'd expect to be leading the fight.
I think about the only thing the Bomber could slip under would be the Harbour Bridge.
He is amazingly ineffectual as a leader. I think he's in the seat merely to keep it warm whilst the rank and file wait for someone who can actually unify and lead the party.
Somehow I don't think that will happen for a while.
